My Favorite John Steffens Pic

I love the progression that St. Louis has experienced in the past decade and we have many people to thank for that. John Steffen is one of those great people to add to the allure of the Downtown loft District. However, from a far I can only wonder about the ultra-aggressive business plan that was set into motion & continued forge on through numerous market warnings. I recognize Johns' accolades from high ranking officials including the Mayor. However, I think that it would be a fair assumption that John Steffen's Pyramid Co. was more than just a product of a market that was tightening its belt for credit opportunities. As much as I agree with that tag that the Mayor put on Pyramid I feel compelled to ask more questions. Why was there a blatant disregard for the slowing in loft sales? While the loft district was cooling down in late 2006 and early 2007 Pyramid was unveiling new elaborate plans for multiple new developments. I understand an individuals resilience but you must be able to adapt to adversity and it seems as though Pyramid could not. I understand that it is not easy to turn around a company with so much inertia. However, a bit more caution could have avoided this great deal of uncertainty that has been cast upon the down town loft district. Now we are in for some interesting times to see what happens with the current unfinished developments & how this story effects the already skiddish buying community. I'm an optimist at heart and I truly believe that the Loft District will show its' own resilience and maintain the position it has worked so hard to achieve. However, I also know that there are many more challenging times to come for the housing market and specifically the Loft District.
